Officially called Quarters A, the house boasts features that are indicative of its residents’ high rank\. The majestic estate is available for weddings, and events, with the offering of overnight stays\. - [Gatekeepers Inn](https://www.visitnorthcharleston.com/riverfront-park/venues/gatekeepers-inn/): Down the steps from the Eternal Father of the Sea Chapel is Quarters F, known now as the Gatekeepers Inn\. The two story late Victorian\-era home was a cottage for the keeper of Chicora Park, a public park commissioned in 1895 by the City of Charleston and designed by the Olmsted brothers\. The building was constructed in 1898\. The residence was purchased by the United States Navy in 1901, for the Admiral until a larger home was completed\. The Gatekeepers Inn is the oldest quarters in the historic officer’s housing district\. - [The Lawn of H \& I](https://www.visitnorthcharleston.com/riverfront-park/venues/the-lawn-of-h-i/): Quarters H\&I was built in 1905 originally for the Officers of The Charleston Naval Base to use as their headquarters\. During World War I, the home was converted into duplex style living Quarters to accommodate the ever growing population of the base\. A new headquarters was built further in the industrial district of the base\. Over the years, two identical porches were added, as well as the interior converted back into offices\. - [Eternal Father of the Sea Chapel](https://www.visitnorthcharleston.com/riverfront-park/venues/eternal-father-of-the-sea-chapel/): A short walk up from Riverfront Park sits The Eternal Father of the Sea Chapel\. The Chapel was originally located on the southern section of the Navy Base and built in 1942\. It was completed in 1944, which served as a non\-denominational chapel for all sailors and their families\. In 2006, the City of North Charleston, along with the Charleston Naval Redevelopment Authority initiated plans to restore and relocate the chapel about a mile from the original location to it’s new location amid the historic officer’s housing\. The chapel still features some of the original doors, windows, light fixtures and pews\. ## Events - [Admiral's House \- Wedding](https://www.visitnorthcharleston.com/riverfront-park-event/admirals-house-wedding-156/) - [Admiral's House \- Wedding](https://www.visitnorthcharleston.com/riverfront-park-event/admirals-house-wedding-155/) - [Chapel \- Wedding](https://www.visitnorthcharleston.com/riverfront-park-event/chapel-wedding-78/) - [Chapel \- Wedding](https://www.visitnorthcharleston.com/riverfront-park-event/chapel-wedding-77/) - [Admiral's House \- Wedding](https://www.visitnorthcharleston.com/riverfront-park-event/admirals-house-wedding-154/) ## Categories - [Uncategorized](https://www.visitnorthcharleston.com/the-insider/category/uncategorized/) ## Place Types - [Food \& Drink](https://www.visitnorthcharleston.com/places/food-and-drink/) - [Stay](https://www.visitnorthcharleston.com/places/stay/) - [Casual Dining](https://www.visitnorthcharleston.com/places/food-and-drink/casual-dining/) - [Things to Do](https://www.visitnorthcharleston.com/places/things-to-do/) - [Shops](https://www.visitnorthcharleston.com/places/shops/) ## Optional - [Sitemap index](https://www.visitnorthcharleston.com/sitemap_index.xml)
